    1. Jack Davenport is so representative of the face of all the heroes that served in World War Two.Achieving remarkable deeds, yet failing to necessarily capture the limelight of the very chosen few. In this book Kristen Alexander has righted that balance for Jack Davenport and for those like him. Unfortunately so many heroic deeds have slipped between the cracks of passing time. Thankfully Kristen has managed to catch this one and share it with us in her wonderful style. Highly recommended.Owen Zup [...]

    2. It's very good. Excellent research. Given that this is a forgotten chapter in Australian militaria (apart from specialist-type publications) Kristen has come up with an approachable, readable biography of an Australian who deserves to be remembered. Forget folk like Simpson and his damn donkey, it's people like Jack Davenport who should have statues.
