    1. As far as I am concerned, Pelé has always been and will always be the greatest ever footballer.Unfortunately, this autobiography adds nothing to the legend that is Pelé and tells us very little really that we didn't already know. The book starts with at least some interest concerning Pelé's childhood and upbringing in deprivation and subsequent rise to fame, but beyond that - it amounts to little more than a catalogue of Pelé's footballing successes (of which there are clearly many). To my min [...]

    2. This is the autobiography of Pelé, the life of a myth narrated by the myth himslef. A book full of epic achievements, which pulses of passion for football and in which the fans will find soccer in its most noble, exemplary, perfect form. His name is the synonymous of football. I think whoever loves football will love his story. The greatest player of all time, the athlete of the century, the greatest scorer (1380 goals) of all time, the three times World Cup champion was born in a hut. He learned [...]

    3. All of the footie books I've read feature English players. I barely know anything of the Brazilian game, except of course every four years at the World Cup tournaments. Bute world knows the name Pele, and this autobiography tells his life story from shanty shack all the way to 2006, when this book was published, in his sixty sixth year.I mainly enjoyed this book for it's coverage of the legendary Brazilian World Cup exploits of 1958, '62, '66, and '70, when Pele and Brazil won the Jules Rimet tr [...]

    4. This is the best soccer book ever.He was the best soccer player in the world when he played. He was always the top scorer. He played with the best soccer teams there was.Hes on of my soccer idols I learned to do a lot of soccer tricks from watching him.

    5. My rating on this book is not that high because I think It's a good book but quite boring at the same time. The book talks about his achievents in his football player career, about his record on scoring goals, and that he was one of the best brazilians players ever. That part it was the worse part for me, I think It's a little bit boring but then when they started talk about how did he become a good player, and also when he talks about his histories besides football, out of the soccer field, tha [...]

    6. Pele by, Simon & Schuster LtdThe best, the greatest and the unbelievable footballer player of all time, named Pele. The autobiography of Pele is an awesome book, I couldn’t stop reading for days, I like this book for a lot of reasons, and one of them is really important to me.The first reason I like it, is because he was the first “Negro” from Brazil to visit the white house in Washington DC. At that time it was really hard to someone from American to visit the white house and especial [...]

    7. Pele is the best soccer player to ever live. He grew up in Bauru, a small town in Brazil. He was poor when he was growing up and he shined shoes for extra pennies. He played soccer with a ball made out of socks in the dirt streets. When he was 15, he made his first senior appearance for Santos, a club in Brazil. He was on fire and was scoring so many goals so a year later, he made his first appearance for Brazil's National team. He kept scoring tons and tons of goals. And in 1966 he got married. [...]

    8. It is a shame that the best in the world do not always write the best autobiographies. It could be that a great sport person or actor does not automtatically make for a great writer, but I think it is something else – reputation. The best have built up a legacy around themselves that means they have more to lose. A warts and all revelation about a middling Premiership player is not going to knock their rep, but it may do to a player of a higher standard. Pele for instance. Regarded as one of t [...]

    9. What a phenomenal book ! It was a pleasure reading Pele’s thoughts and knowing about his childhood . You’ll know more about him . More than his life in football . You’ll know about the type of man he is and the virtues he values . Everything about this was great . Except that it was too factual in my opinion . Either than that this was worth the read !

    10. overall this was a great book, and it was great to read something from a soccer icon. He talks about his young life in Brazil before stardom, his whole career with santos and the Brazil national team, and his life after his amazing career.

    11. Pele: The Autobiography. By Pele. 368 pagesThe book tells about Pele's life as a child, his life as the best player to ever play the game, and his life off of the field. The time and place of this book could not be changed. If they were to be changed it would mess up the whole story because the story is a true story.Pele is the true main character in the book. There are many others who he interacts with but the book is mainly just based on him.Even for those people who are not really into soccer, [...]

    12. The yardstick of excellence, honor and humility Pele (1940-) is a household name among the footballing fraternity and well beyond. The baptism might have irked the little Edson but not the prized Black Pearl today. Kicking sock-stuffed balls around the neighborhood in Bauru for fun little did he knew he was about to do it for his entirety and thank God he did. The road from Bauru to whole of Brazil and around the world, however, wasn’t fun to begin with but his tenacity and sheer talent propel [...]

    14. In 2006, the greatest footballer in history wrote his autobiography. His name is Edison Arantes de Nascimento, or Pelé. He was born on 23 October 1940 in a small, poor town called Três Corações, which is near Rio de Janeiro. When he was growing up, he always wanted to be as good as a footballer as his father, who is called Dondinho. He goes through a lot as a child and by God he is kept alive and became who he is today. He gives thanks and prayers to God during this book. When Pelé was youn [...]

    15. PeleHow does a boy become a legend? The book ,Pele, will tell you exactly how this can happen. The author's Orlando Duarte and Alex Bellos did a great job talking about Pele's life. The book talks about how he was born in Brazil .The book also talks about how he played soccer as a boy. He was poor so he started his own team with his friends and they also played many teams. It also talks abut how thy made balls because they could not afford any. All his coaches taught him important moves. This al [...]

    16. I recently read the autobiography of Pele, the best soccer player of all time. This book was inspiring to me, since the beginning of the book to end page by page that I read I would get motivated and wanted to play and practice soccer and motivate myself to be a better player. This book is sad and at the same time motivating, a really good book even if you are not soccer fan. Pele talks about his life and harsh times, how he came from nothing to becoming the best soccer player of all times. The [...]

    17. 1: Who is my favorite character and why?*My favorite character is this autobiography was Pele. This might have been obvious since we learn out about him and the adventures he and his non wealthy family go through. He shows courage in many of his tasks and shows grace in victory and defeat against opposing players and teams. He also is a really big family man, during the novel he speaks a lot about his wife and family which shows that he had respect towards them and was always positive. 4: What w [...]

    18. This book I read with my football mad sons. Being that this isn't a book I would read for myself, I found Pele quite endearing. We all enjoyed the early years probably the best.Pele is a very trusting person, and this may be a good quality, but unfortunately in the business world this was not a good quality unless some discernment is added to the mix. Pele was a very talented and passionate footballer, unfortunately off the pitch life was not so easy, but his optimism runs throughout everything [...]

    19. I really enjoyed reading this book. The Story is about Pele's life and his road to glory. It tells you mostly about football but it also tell you about his personal life. It is mostly in chronological order but sometimes skips forward to some things they go back to them again. The style of this book is quite relaxed and he sometimes jokes around in the books. I this book is aimed towards all ages because the vocabulary and style of the writing is intermediate but I think it would be hard for you [...]

    20. Personally I have always loved Pele and regard him as an icon of the game I love. His autobiography did not disappoint covering his early life, football career, family life and life after football. Pele has a reputation as a not only a fantastic player but a thoroughly good man, this book reflects his modesty and openess, gives credit to those who have helped him but also deals with his mistakes. I admire his continued dedication to the game of football which really comes through in this book an [...]

    21. The greatest? Possibly. His story is modestly told, with a realisation of his importance in history. No player will achieve what he did in the World Game. His achievments can't be argued with because he did it against all that was put in front of him. He could easily have thrived in the modern game where tackling is non existent, but how many would survive the brutality of the defending from his era? Great story from a true sporting legend.

    22. This book was great and i really liked it. Pele was a brilliant futbol player with a lot of talent. He had incredible skills and did a lot for his teams. He went through a lot as a futbol player and was known as one of the best players in history. He is still a idol to most players today because of his amazing talent on the pitch. he always put 100% effot in his games and this book shows all the things he did on the field that contributed to his national team wining the world cup.

    23. This book was an autobiography on Pele. It was about Pele’s life and how his life was hard and then he became the best soccer player ever. This book was actually a very good book because I love soccer and this book showed me how much more I love soccer. But this book had very few bad parts to it because this was a very inspiring book but I would criticize this by actually showing how he got all his talent and how he practiced as a child.

    24. Very easy to read, and a great insight into his life. He tries to answer some of the comments regarding the the bad things he is meant to have done. Takes a while to realise that it hard fo him to not sound arrogant and bragging, then you remember he probably is understating his achievments if anything's just that his achievemnts and skills are greater than most other sportsmen!

    25. I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did, I had always admired Pele as a footballer and now as a man. He comes across as very humble and indeed still excited by the 'beautiful game' All my memories of the 1970 World Cup came back to life with this book. I don't believe that you have to like football to enjoy the book either

    26. It is no wonder that Brazilian football (which has represented the best of the "Beautiful Game") has produced the sports most iconic figure in Pele. He is known as probably the greatest football player that has lived and an ambassador for the sport the World over. This is his story told in his own words.

    27. Mediocre. I found it all a bit preachy, like his way is the only way to live your life. The excuses about not winning the World Cup in '66 really got to me and there seemed to be a bit of hypocrisy in the way he complained that some players were only in the game for money and then signed for New York for $9000000. OK but I expected much more rom this

    28. I know the basics of futbol, I can recognize the beaty of someone who executes the game in a beatiful joyful manner but from there I practically know next to nothing about it. I found this book beatiful in the sense that this is a man perceived by most to have acomplish much and now he finds himself in the point were looking back is the proper thing to do.
