    1. I don't normally start with the end first, but FUCK! That's just wrong. That's cruel. That's bitchy. That's a move outtaYet, I loves it!!!Thank Kindle witches that the wait for September isn't long or I might go straight up fangirl postal on the author's message board. Just sayin~ Moving onback. PlotOur witchy FMC, Seph, is on a quest for answers as to who is out to kill her and why?!? She's got to avoid Jack f'ing with her heart and mind and try to figure out whose side he's on once and for all [...]

    2. After finishing 'Sixpence and Whiskey' I moved straight onto this one, I'm so glad I didn't have to wait. This is another crazy entertaining read as Seph tries to work out exactly what's going on and who she can she trust. It's the same band of characters as before plus some new ones and Jack, again is he the hero or the villain. This is a another short book at only 155 pages and for the most part it's jam packed with interesting characters, humour and action but it started slowly, I assumed it wa [...]

    4. *100% accurate representation of me after reading the last page of this book.*I. am. so. hooked. This is the 2nd installment in this serial and I'm so relieved I have the next one ready to go.I CANNOT be left hanging like this book has left me.I'm cracking open the next book NOW.

    5. 4 1/2 stars"The witch of witches spawns sisters four;Spring, Summer, Winter, FallScattered like leaves, but Queens allTo Summer the King of Winter fallsWorld destroyed, all vanquished halls" There's nothing like a snippet of doomsday prophecy to throw one's whole life into chaos and turmoil, right? (Whether you know about it or not)Persephone Goss (aka Seph) realizes that, while sticks and stones may break one's bones, assassins, werewolves, Council inquiries, frame jobs and family secrets, as w [...]

    6. 4.75 ✭Oh. My. God!! And excuse the potty mouth forthcoming. What the everlovinghell Ms. Blair?I'm not sure I can write a coherent review here. Where do I start?I hate Luna. Let's start there. Bitch needs to die. Violently.Georg. Seriously? I can't even. The sisters? F*ck themThe mother? F*ck her too.The Dark Council? See above F*ckem'sJackJackJackDammit Seph! Was there no other way? This will destroy him.I still don't understand why she isn't going all out to get answers. That just doesn't compu [...]

    7. I'm in a love/hate relationship with Heather R Blair right now. I love her for the incredibly fantastic story she is weaving and hate her because I have to wait for the rest of the story. Jack is so F**king hot, and I truly love Seph. I can gush about this book for hours, but I'll wait to do that in my final review. I do have a theory about the prophecy, that it's not exactly as it seems, but I've been known to be wrong (a lot lol), so I'll just keep my mouth shut. Another 5-star installment. P. [...]

    8. So this review states it took me two weeks to read this book. That is so not true. I devoured this story and finished it in one day. However, I had also badgered (again!) poor Heather into letting me have an early copy. I couldn't help it. PS, this only works because we're friends, so please, don't badger her. I do it out of love. ;)Now, because we're friends, that doesn't mean I'm pulling any punches with this review. I'm not sugarcoating or blowing smoke. I seriously loved this book.Jack has m [...]

    9. 5 Dark Chocolate BarsThe wait has been agonizing but it was definitely worth it.Heather Blair is one of my top 10 authors, ( top 3 to be honest) and has a knack for blasting cliches into oblivion. The story is narrated by Seph who has been through a life altering event. This was a treat as Seph has a smart, snarky and stubborn perspective. She is not into avoidance, would rather confront issues head on than fret over them. Seph discovers that she has been in the dark about a lot of things, her r [...]

    10. Half of me wants to hug Heather for writing such a damn good book while the other half wants to choke her because the frustration I felt reading this book–! It's been a while since I let myself get lost in a book. I've been in the worst reading slump of my life lately and while it took me a bit to finish Blackbirds & Bourbon, I was more than a little engrossed in what was happening with it. It's been a day or so since I finished it but up until now, I can still feel the after-effects of it [...]

    11. Okay so, truth, I was not expecting that. The last book ended with me not liking Seph or Frost. Well this one made a believer outta me cause DAMN!I really liked Seph in this. And Frost too, I guess. The last book was like a 2.5 and this ones a 3.75 almost 4. That's a big jump.Especially since the reviews are the only reason I bothered picking this up in the first place.I can't wait to start the next book! Also, I'm very happy with the length of this book, it felt so happening and fast paced, not a [...]

    12. Oh wow This book had a lot of action with also the conclusion of the first book. But damn in one fell swoop the author made me cry and then give me a steamy sex scene and then made me cry again I'm just an emotional roller coaster here. Okay I'm quite satisfied with this book 2 and I'm ready to dive into book 3 with gusto (Ughhh I hate damn cliffhangers)Overall rating:4.75 - Pretty damn Good!

    13. Although book 2 of the Toil and Trouble series starts a little slower, is it by no means less. It is MORE. So many revelations. The writing continues to be stellar and fast paced and if my body hadn’t demanded sleep I would’ve read this in one sitting. Well, with the exception of breaks for liquid beverages and such. As some questions are answered, many more arise. This author is killing me! I need all the answers and I need them like now! And that ending! That ending! How can I hate and lov [...]

    14. Ahhhh it's killing me here!!! This is torture! Why oh why do they do this to us. We just want a kickass funny story and we are left with the mother of all cliffs here. Can't say I love this book here. The next one better rock cause I am so emotional right now. How could the author do this to us!?

    15. Now that's what I'm talkin about :). This went by in a blur,Non stop from start to finish and so much more deliciousness between Seph and Jack! I want more! Like now. On to the next!

    16. I liked this better than the first. Probably because Jack is starting to grow on me. There’s more going on and I don’t want to waste time writing a review so I can get on with the next book!!Having said that, Luna needs to fucking die!! And it needs to be bad so she can really suffer. Because Georg! Talk about a knife to the fucking heart!!! And that ending???!!!I love this world :)

    17. Blackbirds & Bourbon continues the saga of Seph & Jack Frost. Seph is still the spunky and a bit reckless heroine that you can't help but root for. If you love snarky female characters, then you're going to love this story. I'm not so sure about her sisters, yet. I don't care for how secretive they all are. As far as I'm concerned, family is family, and you don't keep family in the dark. But maybe they'll redeem themselves in the last installment of this series. The verdict is still op [...]

    18. I think I liked this book even better than the first one! What I really like about this series is how creatively the characters are written. Persephone "Seph" and her sisters are not your typical witches and don't even get me started on Jack Frost. After Jack broke Seph's heart nine years ago he keeps showing up in her life at the most inopportune times. While at times he plays the hero, there is a darker side of him that has me worried. With the Dark Council breathing down her neck and assassins [...]

    19. Would have rated this one more except it has a personal trigger:Death of a well-liked supporting characterSo rating it 3.5 stars only.

    20. Black or WhiteThis was a great follow up to book one and I’m already chomping on the bit for book three.Things really heat up in this book with both disaster and clarification as many of the things happening in Seph’s life start to come to light and make sense of many aspects of her past. Jack remains front and center as the tall, dark, and deadly lover as his past explains his present.I can not wait to see where this series goes next.

    21. 4.5 Stars on this one, and the only reason it went down a half star is because of a particular frustration I felt while reading this story. It irritated the crap out of me how everyone around Seph knew everything about Seph but kept everything from Seph. I mean, the woman is almost 27 - not a 13-year-old who can't handle the truth. The reality of her world was literally out to get her and everyone thought it would be best if she didn't know what was going on??? Especially knowing the type of per [...]

    22. Wow --that ending was brutal & yet kinda sweet? Definitely buy both 2 & 3 if you want to read because I need to know what happened after the cliffhanger. Also SMUT warning -- several pages of getting back with her ex.

    23. Heather R. Blair, professional heart-breaker. Yes, she breaks hearts with her books! Specifically, she is the mad marionette pulling the strings of her characters. Her cold, hot characters. Oh, Jack! Oh, Seph! I've cried more tears over their relationship than they have. I blame the puppet master! For me, this is Heather's best book and series so far. Adore the book titles. Love the characters and their fun names. I love all of their cool powers. The sisters are so amazing, I could read an entire [...]

    24. Wow cliff hanger!Yep part 2 of the serial, which also has *gasp* cliff hanger. In this book Seph is framed for a public explosion. This results in her having a trial with the council. As such things go she knows she is innocent but doesn't know how to prove it. Meanwhile it almost seems like Jack is trying to help her, but neither Seph nor I trust him, especially with what he did way back when. I can't figure Jack out. He's hard to read. There are still the bread crumbs left by her mother which n [...]

    25. What do you do when it seems half of everyone you know, wants to kill you and the other half wants to protect you? All of this and you barely know what's going on. Fairytale creatures abound in this awesome story. This is the second book in a trilogy. A must read! I was given this ARC copy in exchange for and honest review.

    26. !!!!!!!! My review is basically the sound of internal screaming. Not too bogged down with exposition, the story outdoes itself at every turn. This fantastical story is keeping me on the edge of my seat, and damn, do I ever love it. I'm running to the next book in the series!5+.

    27. What can I say?! Hell of a cliffhanger! Once I got to the halfway mark I couldn’t put the book down. Shocked.
