    1. As soon as I started reading Maggie’s Shadow I was in territory I instantly recognised. Maggie’s relationship with her horrendous mother, and the journey she embarks on to free herself from its long shadow made her immediately a heroine who attracted my sympathy. Anyone who has had someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder in their family will identify with Maggie and her uphill struggle to maintain a compassionate relationship with the woman who so selfishly demands everything while gi [...]

    2. Light and Shadow on the path - Maggie's experiences repeatedly reinforce the power in a human willingness to be honest with our selves, to take another look, at self and others, and to open up to the gifts that others' lives may have the potential to bring to ours, if we're willing to see and receive them for what they are. This reflective story reminded me that humility, together with fearless self-honesty, though often tough choices to find the willingness to make, as they so often are for Mag [...]

    3. Maggie’s ShadowThere are limits to the idea that blood is thicker than water and the protagonist, Maggie, of Morinne Depolo’s debut novel MAGGIE’S SHADOW finds them. In an attempt to reconcile with her emotionally abusive mother, Norma, Maggie is returning from California to her childhood home in the UK to help her after a fall. Maggie’s voice, authentic and unflinching, tells the story as she draws closer to her home and one wonders why she is going back. Gradually the reader comes to u [...]

    4. Honest and touching mother daughter relationship, well lets say relationship in itself. Excellent and well developed characters, so good I personally felt their emotional state. Unexpected unpredictable journey Maggie endures kept me reading quietly until I met the end of the book. A believable story to fill your mind with just the right amount of excitement. Wonderful writing that made it so believable. I received a free book that I had won through First Read Giveaway. Thank you, Darlene Cruz

    5. I really enjoyed this layered story! It captures a raw truth about relationships, challenges between mothers and daughters, and the mysterious ways love shows up in life. I love the little cottage on the front, it really captures the sanctuary described in the book. Curious to read more of what Morrine has to share.

    6. I really enjoyed this novel. The characters are vibrant and the voice is soothing. It is a story of a transformative journey that rang true for me. I think many people have an inner Maggie, different specifics, but similar questions. The love story is particularly touching and reminded me of the love between Jo and Mr Baer in Little Women.
