    1. Oh this short was a lot of fun. I’ve been on this ‘soul mates’ kick. And this story has elements of that.Paul is a bartender and part owner of a family bar. I love his story of growing up reading and making up characters who’ve lived in and around his family’s property. There’s something kinda sad and lonely about him and I related to bits of his life. I wanted for him to be happy.Michael is an accountant, a twinkle-toed dancer, and apparently, on the wrong side of an abusive relatio [...]

    2. 3.5 starsI felt that this story suffered a case of misfortune for being on the shorter side, which made it slightly unsatisfactory. Paul spent the first half of this story being unaware of Michael (except for his feet) while at the same time, Michael was in an abusive relationship with his boyfriend. Even if Michael paid attention to Paul throughout (Paul's fault for being oblivious!). So really, they just "really" met (and introduced themselves to one another) about half-time, then they slept t [...]

    3. This was quite awful.I felt no connection to the characters, the story is highly unlikely and I know this is 44 pages book, but what happened to quality over quantity?? I mean, 3 sex scenes in 2 pages is way too much. They were terrible. These guys went from casual acquaintances to shared orgasms in one page.

    4. Well, this started off promising… A haunted gay bar with nude dancers in party-town New Orleans? What’s not to love? The Jean-Thom bar has been owned by the Thibodeaux family for more than fifty years and, in fact, started as gay bar. Pretty progressive for the times. Paul, and brother Theo Thibodeaux now own and operate the Jean-Thom, known for its friendly, fun atmosphere. It’s not just a pick up joint and it’s very popular with the locals. I suspect that the handsome brothers add thei [...]

    5. 3.5 First Rowan Speedwell story Quite liked it, though ended abruptly. Will try a novel from her next

    6. 3.5Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I want more! This book has such a lazy, sexy, vibrant, melancholic ambiance to it--the type of vibe that you can recognize if you've visited the Big Easy. Paul, our bartender, has been existing -not living- letting the days go by until he wakes up and looks "first, pass the feet, then pass the knees" of one dancer - Michael, our sexy, sweet and vulnerable accountant by day, dancer by night. Both of them are at a point of their lives where they need to make c [...]

    7. Paul Thibodeaux works in the family bar. He bounces from on lover to the next. Nothing holds him, till he discovers one of the dancer sporting bruises. Up till then, Paul only knew them by their feet. Micheal is different. One night Paul finds Micheal asleep in the bar courtyard. Micheal explains to an angry Paul, that an elegant lady in green told him it was okay to stay here for the night. Paul wants to know what lady, but at the same time finds he doesn't want Micheal to go. This was way to s [...]

    8. Short, Sexy and Steamy what’s that you say? Why yes, yes that is my three favorite colors!!Paul Thibodeaux and his brother Theo own and run a successful gay bar on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. They live in the apartments that are attached to the bar with a picturesque courtyard in the center. Paul moves quietly through life working in the bar and ending each day with a meaningless one night stand. He never pays much attention to the dancers at the bar, until one night he notices a bruise on [...]

    9. This review was originally written for Joyfully Jay Reviews.4 starsThere is so much I enjoyed about this story. Speedwell’s characters are well drawn, especially Paul, a young man who loses himself in books and drink rather than face life and his future. We find him at a time when Paul must either move forward or be lost to alcohol. We are given just enough background on Paul to help us understand what brought him to this moment. His efforts at college and the manner in which the character fel [...]

    10. “Nobody knows what to do…We all jump off the cliff, day after day…If you stand on the top and don’t move, you don’t get hurt. But…You don’t fly either. You need to jump, just once. And fly.”These wise words from a dream that was peopled by those from his past alerts Paul Thibodeaux that he has been in a sad sort of stasis, neither moving forward or back, simply standing still. In his meager existence there has been no room for a lasting relationship or love of any kind and so he [...]

    11. This started out really well, with a look at who Paul and Michael are and what their story is, but the ending felt rushed. I think this would have been better if it was a little longer. Still it was an enjoyable, if too short read.

    12. I realize this was a short story, however it never really got started. We really didn't get their personalities and as for the ghosts, who needed them. 2 stars for me.
