    1. The Butlers are not a family to be messed with.Top dogs in the East End, they trample on anybody who gets in their way."trample" - that is putting it mildly. This author is fast becoming a firm favourite. The writing is brilliant, the storyline is absolutely compelling. I could not put it down. The twists and turns are bloody awesome. We have Vinny Butler - oldest son of Queen Butler, who thinks she is Queen of the East End - Vinny is scum of the earth, and that is me being nice to him. Fucking h [...]

    2. 5 Molly-Dolly Stars*****What theNooooo really!!!Hells BellsKimberley Chambers has left me speechless again, boy she sure knows how to throw you.just Brilliant.absolute genius!! PAYBACKWhat more can I sayexcept another 5 star read

    3. Eighteenth book of my holiday reads. This is the second book in the Butler family series and even though the author does her best to give background from the previous book I would still recommend reading in order if possible. The Trap totally blew me away, so much so that I had to dive straight into the next one. It was great to catch up with the Butlers again. Sadly life for the family hasn't got much better and even worse is yet to come. Payback is another shocking and emotional read that had [...]

    4. 5 lost for words starsYes brilliantPayback is the follow up to The TrapVinny is the head of the family. He is cold and controlling but the birth of his daughter Molly changes him, calms him. She is the one bright and wonderful thing in his life. But Vinny has upset too many people and his enemies want revenge. His family want answers to his involvement in a crash that killed one of his family. 5. ***** 5 Stars *****When I started this series, I wasn’t very sure it would hit my buttons because, let's be honest, this is not my usual. It’s not dirty, it’s not erotic and there is little to no romance. This series starts with The Trap, where we get to know The Butlers. The Trap was a 4 Stars but I must say the end was so good that I went straight to book 2. Who are the Butlers? The Butlers are a dysfunctional family from the East End. We have Albie, a cheating and drunk bastard of a fath [...]

    6. ***** 5 "Princess" Stars *****"When he's good he's very good but when he's bad, he's pure evil." Vinny Butler's dark decisions and evil sins are coming back to haunt him and his entire family. The Butler's are about to experience hell on earth when truths and secrets crash head on into their reality. No matter what Vinny does, the price is at an ultimate high and he is unable to seek reprieve for the past and his future will pay the ultimate price. No Butler is safe, when friend, foe and family [...]

    7. My review of The Trap: /review/showWritten when I bought the book:FUCKING YES. Never been this excited to read a book in my life!! Written after I read the book:Okay so I decided to only rate books on in 2014 rather than write a few words which hardly anybody would read. However after finishing Payback I cannot just rate this book five stars without listing why. This book deserves more than five stars! I discovered Kimberley Chambers about two years ago when looking for similar books to Martina [...]

    8. I need to start this review by explaining the fact that this is a follow up to the first book featuring the Butlers, entitled The Trap. If you haven’t already read this book then please don’t read this reviews as there will inevitably be spoilers in it. Kimberley Chambers came onto the Crime writing scene back in 2008, and has gone on to become an author which I can confidently place in my top 5. She created the series featuring the family’s the Mitchell’s and O’Hara’s and then last [...]

    9. If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?William Shakespeare. After reading this at the beginning you can tell your in for another thrilling read. This one had its crime, angst, mystery but also it had some sadness too.I loved Eddie Mitchell coming in and out the story. Another great character in the gangster underworld. My feelings have changed for some of the characters in this one, but that ending [...]

    10. bloody brilliantThis book follows on from The Trap, which I have just re-read before starting this one. The Trap was a 5star++ read and I didn't think the story could get any betterBUT It really does.We again return to the lives of the Butler family, a great family to read about but so glad they not my family or even my neighbours. I wanted to sit and read this in one sitting, but I paced myself to make the book last, all the way through i wanted to carry on find out what was happening and as us [...]

    11. Absolutely brilliant read, couldn't put it down. An excellent follow up to The Trap, I can't wait for the next installment.

    12. This is a new author for me and the book was a free gift from amazon. It's quite a good crime story and I enjoyed the book but it isn't great. The characters were just okay and the plot fairly predictable. I prefer such stories to have some good twists. I hadn't realised it was the second in a series but it worked okay as a standalone read. I don't feel compelled to now read the others in the series.

    13. 3.5 starsAnother really good listen. You wouldn't want to know the Butler's in real life but they're entertaining to read about, and of course Annie Aldington is great at narrating as always. Onto book three!

    14. 4½ starsI loved this book it had everything from a bone fide villian and so many sub plots it made your head spin. This is the 2nd book in the series and picked up where the last one left off. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series and seeing how the characters lives pan out.

    15. Took me a while to get into this but after half way through the book then found I was drawn into the story. Maybe because I didn't read the first book in this series. It's like Eastenders meets the Krays!

    16. This book was really good! It was gritty, it was dark, and it was shocking. However, being an avid Martina Cole fan, I hated that I was comparing this book to some of Martina's. This was brilliant it really was, and I'll definitely read some more Kimberley Chambers as she's a fab writer, but, I can't help but feel that the writing was lacking something 'real', like the 'real' I get from Martina's writing. I can't put my finger on it. It wasn't quite as believable, that's what I mean! But still g [...]

    17. Full as dishwasher - avoid like the plagueThis book started slowly and never got going. It's filled with characters I couldn't care less about. It's like someone stapling your eyelids open and forcing you to watch all 30 years worth of Eastenders back-to-back. It must have been a very slow week/month/year for this to have been a Sunday Times best seller - unless it was just hipsters trying to show how "working class"they are. I can't believe there are more in this series.

    18. I have just discovered Kimberley Chambers books and read Payback straight after The Trap. It's a direct continuation of the Butlers' story. Reminds me of Martina Cole before her books became violence with no story. This book kept my interest to the last page- I was left open mouthed as I was NOT expecting that ending! Looking forward to the next instalment!

    19. This was a re read for me as I'm refreshing it in my mind ready for Kimberley's new one due out soon . A fantastic book , just how I like them full of mean characters and the twists and turns are excellent . Full of love , hate and revenge all rolled into one . Loved it . A massive 5 stars from me

    20. A cracker of a storyKimberley has excelled herself with the Butlers. Reminds me of Eastenders. If you enjoy Eastenders then this is a book for you. Sad ending and hopefully every dog has its day and what goes around comes around

    21. Omg what an ending I'm sitting here needing more I can't believe it Kimberley just pulls shock after shock with her writing it's just brilliant.

    22. Krays it ain’t. An ok enough yarn, but the protagonist seemed difficult to comprehend. On one hand some kind of ruthless east end gangster, but on the other a (semi) doting father. Not sure if this was to make us empathise with him or not (it didn’t). It took a LONG time to get anywhere and then ended rather swiftly (the outcome was far to easy to guess, way before the end) I also had issue with the continuity; at one point one of the leading men is trying to “payback” only for the initi [...]

    23. A very good book by an author whose writing style is not dissimilar to Martina Cole’s. Like Martina, this book is set around gangland crime and features drugs, sex and lots of undesirable people. However it is missing a certain something hence the reason I have given it 4 stars. Perhaps my rating may have been a full 5 stars had I started my Kimberley Chambers journey with the first book in the series but nevertheless it was still an excellent read packed with lots of ruthless people behaving [...]

    24. The Butler family are a family to be feared. They are Top Dogs in the East End criminal world and are not to be crossed. Vinny Butler is the eldest son of Queenie Butler and is a despicable person who will trample on anyone, including family to get what he wants. When Vinny's little daughter Molly is born, he calms down and vows he will keep her safe always. He truly loves Molly and is a different person in her company.Vinny has been involved in many dirty deals and has upset many people along th [...]

    25. This was a freebie from an author unknown to me, I'm not sure why they didn't choose the first book in the series which is more usual. I had no great hopes for this book but it had been in my "to read" pile for almost 2 years and I felt it was time to start reading it or dump it.I got exactly what I was expecting, misogynistic thuggery, and East End stereotypes. I knew I would never ever finish reading it or any others in the series. My first and last by this author.

    26. Once I got into it, I enjoyed it. Felt like I'd missed something. Not sure if there was a book before this that I should have read. As I have said before Kimberely Chambers is like Martina Cole, (but better, in my opinion). This was fast paced. A great crime thriller. Made you keep wanting to read. Can't wait to read the next one in this sequence.

    27. Possibly the worst book I have read the whole way through. Full of cliches, misogyny and an ending anyone could predict this is one book I can't recommend. The cover was totally misleading, I thought it would be about strong, resilient, smart women. Totally wrong on that point.
