    1. The Ghost of Sherwood is a different view of the famous legend of Robin Hood. The story tells how Robin Hood became a legend. Robert, the acting Sheriff of Nottingham (for his brother), realizes that since King Richard just died his job is at stake – for King John is replacing all supporters of Richard with his own. Hence, Robert devises a plan to sustain himself for his more than likely removal. Over time, he steals the King’s taxes with the help of some deputies and townsfolk. Although a t [...]

    2. There are a lot of good reasons to read this book.**A neat premise. I have read a few takes on the Robin Hood story over the years, including one where Robin was female, but hadn't previously run across one where Robin Hood was made up by the Sheriff to cover his own misdoings.**Attention to detail. The historical setting felt very real, from the physical setting to the way the culture and politics worked at the time. **Good mix of action and humor within the overall story. I'm not sure if the a [...]

    3. The Ghost of Sherwood was a unique take on the old beloved tale of Robin Hood. It definitely took a different route than most Robin Hood stories, in a refreshing way. This had a feeling a historical believability about it, rather than just a legend. It was well written well, containing some really nice lines of description. One I especially liked was how Tuck's hairstyle was described as a large egg nested in a mop of brown hair. That was a great visual!A few things I didn't like were how everyo [...]

    4. I received a free copy of The Ghost of Sherwood through LibraryThing Early Reviewers in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed reading this book and finished it in three days. I’ve read several books about Robin Hood over the last 55 years. Each author has had a different take on Robin Hood and his Merry Band. Wilson Harp puts a new twist on how the character of Robin Hood came about. In this case Robin Hood and his Merry Band were created by the sheriff and his followers to cover their trai [...]

    5. This was an entertaining read that took a single day.Robert Brewer, Sheriff of Nottingham, wants nothing more than an early, easy retirement in Italy. Well, he'd also like to leave town with clean reputation and the lovely Marian in tow. Not getting himself or any of his friends hanged would also be lovely, thank you.Can he have it all? If he's not careful, he might just hang himself in his own web of intrigue.I enjoyed finding out the "true" story of Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham. Th [...]

    6. This was a giveaway book I receivedrry it took so long for me to read and review it!! As I read the other reviews, I was thrilled to see the people that took the time to write a review LOVED the historical type genre that I also love. The author posed another thought about the "myth" of Robin Hood. For those (and there are many I am sure) that loved watching the movie "The Wizard of Oz" as a child and have had the privilege to see the stage play "Wicked" will understand that this book did for me [...]

    7. The premise of this book is awesome: the newly crowned King John will be soon be handing out positions to his favorites, and the current Sheriff of Nottingham expects to be out of a job. So he plots to make a better future for himself by stealing the king's taxes before he leaves. But tales of the tax thief start spiraling out of control, just as the king's knight, Sir Guy, arrives to hunt down the bandits. Now the Sheriff has to create a legend to cover his own tracks. If this tale had been tol [...]

    8. We have all read about, or seen a movie about Robin Hood and his merry band. This book is about Robin Hood but with a twist. I expected this story to parrot what I have already come to think about as the Robin Hood saga. To a small degree, the author fulfilled that expectation. All the characters you are familiar with are a part of the story. The author takes a clever approach to the title character in terms of who he is, why he does what he does, how he goes about it, and how he maintains his f [...]

    9. The Ghost of Sherwood by Wilson Harp is an interesting take of the classic Robin Hood of Sherwood forest. The writer is an extremely gifted writer with a descriptive flair and a creative mind. His ability to rewrite Robin Hood and turn it into a new yet "classic" tale is a marvel. I look forward to reading more of this author. This book is read like a movie, making it so easy to visualize each scene.A great read and addition to the bookshelf.Renee Robinson,The Color of The Wind: Bursting To Shin [...]

    10. Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Riding Through the GlenI've had that song running through my head since I started reading The Ghost of Sherwood. I suspect others "of an age" may share that experience. This book was a delight to read, because it gave me a new perspective on a favorite tale, as well as bringing back memories of a favorite tv show about the man who was "feared by the bad, loved by the good.

    11. This work is an original adaptation of the Robin Hood story. I love how the author sheds new light and gives an alternate version of the Sheriff of Nottingham. The characters are wonderful and cunning, except for Sir Guy. An easy and well done read Member GiveawayThe Ghost of SherwoodWilson Harp

    12. A great book! This is based on the famous tale of Robin Hood, but with a twist (which I won't share as potentially a spoiler) which I really enjoyed. As a kid I've always enjoyed and been fascinated by the tale of Robin Hood. As the years go by, more and more books and films are made on the subject, making it quite a tired tale. This is pleasingly not the case here, in fact, I suspect this maybe closer to the truth then the famous tale. Anywayad this book! I recommend with ease.

    13.  "Verdict: Good - a solid book. A retelling of the Robin Hood tale in which Robin Hood is an invention of the Sheriff of Nottingham in order to protect his people and himself."Full review on my blog:knrbooks/2013/06/review-ghost-of-sherwoodmlA copy of this book was provided in exchange for a review.

    14. An interesting take on Robin Hood. Told from an unusual perspective (no spoilers) that allowed the love angle between Robin and Marion to remain in the background, focusing instead on the action in the story. I would have liked more show and less tell - the telling made the story a little dry. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review.

    15. This is a story about the origins of the Robin Hood legend. Pure fiction and a bit hard to swallow, it's not a bad story and will hold your interest long enough to finish it up in just a few sittings. Rather clever read.

    16. The premise of this book is about the only thing I liked about this book. I thought that the Sheriff of Nottingham making up Robin Hood had a lot of potential, but I don't think that the author executed it as well as it could have been.

    17. Gives a new twist to the concept of RH being a product of the medieval imagination. An interesting premise competently executed.

    18. I really enjoyed this tale's version of the history of the legend of Robin Hood of Sherwood forest.
