    1. I am really liking this series. Full of twists and turns, the fast paced plot creates suspense throughout which keeps you glued on the book. It definitely is a pageturner. I read this with my buddy and I told her I thought I was finished reading it for the night but read two more chapters and then I was going to quit it. The second chapter was so good that I ended up finishing it at the last 30 percent. I felt so bad but I lost control. It was so good and I had to find out if I was right guessin [...]

    2. 4.5 stars Wow, I’ve found myself another wonderful go-to author! This is the fourth Kerry Wilkinson book I’ve read in the last couple of months, and I am thrilled to have discovered him and his works. I wonder what took me so long to find him?In this, the second installment of the Jessica Daniel series, we are dealing with a serial killer who appears to be picking victims who are, shall we say, members of society not known for their altruism and community service. Hence the moniker Vigilante [...]

    3. Wilkinson starts off his second book in the series with an interesting premise. A thug is murdered and the blood under his nails belongs to someone already in prison. Then two more thugs are killed. The DCI doesn't really care. “Scum killing scum isn't a priority today”. But Jessica is trying to see justice done, if only for the families. I loved watching the development of DS Daniels as she tackles her second big murder investigation. And the author continues to build an interesting cast of [...]

    4. Why all the fighting when we can think?!It may be an unpopular opinion but now a days a large percentage of detective mysteries cum thrillers tends to emphasise on making the problem somehow personal to the protagonist of the story. Either their past comes back to haunt them or the killer somehow is related to him/her or for some reasons the killer targets our protagonist. The plus point about these type of novels is that they are catchy and can create gripping situations to keep us on the edge; [...]

    5. 2nd book in this series& I loved it! I love Jessica as a detective. She's competent but still is human & will make mistakes but that just makes her more "real". Love the side characters, also. I can't wait to read more from this series:)

    6. Full review on novelgossipThis is the second book in a series and I rather liked the first one, if you missed it you can find my review of The Killer Inside here. While this one was an overall enjoyable read, I’m afraid there was a bit of a sophomore slump here and I can’t say I liked Vigilante as much as the first book. The premise was promising, I was interested in the idea of a killer who was already locked up. How is that even possible?! It’s up to Jessica Daniel to unravel the mystery. [...]

    7. DS Jessica Daniel is investigating the deaths of boys and all the evidence left behind points to a man already in prison. Even though these victims were all criminals DS Daniel still feels they deserve justice for their deaths. The rest of the force and the media all feel they got what they deserve. As she attempts to solve these crimes she finds herself going against what everyone else believes is what they deserved leaving her not sure who she can trust. Great read. I would like to thank the P [...]

    8. I enjoyed Vigilante more than the first book. I took a few short breaks but actually read it in one sitting, even though I was up until the early hours in the morning! I see that some reviews have mentioned disliking some of the details that went into events that had nothing to do with police work, like when the characters attended a Pub quiz. I must respectfully disagree. I am pleased moments like that are included. It makes the characters more human, more than just their jobs. It makes it easi [...]

    9. DS Daniel certainly has her hands full. Someone is attacking and stabbing teenage boys .ys who are very well known by the law enforcers. Jessica's boss has no sense of sorrow over these deaths, but it is Jessica that has to talk to the grieving families.Jessica understands the 'why' but the real puzzle is the forensic evidence left at the scene of the crimes. Blood DNA, hair follicles, even a partial fingerprint all point to one man . only this man is in prison and has been for quite a while. So [...]

    10. I read and loved The Killer Inside - the first Jessica Daniel book. I was waiting to read this, the next in the series and wow! I absolutely LOVED this wonderful book! Full of twists, pacy and tense, this was a thrilling, unputdownable read. I was turning the pages frantically and at the same time I did not want it to end. Love Jessica - what a wonderful, strong character she is! Can't wait for the next in this amazing series!

    11. A second police procedural for DS Jess Daniel as three local criminals are murdered, but the forensic evidence is complex and does not produce a viable suspect. Our lead character Jessica is quite ill-disciplined and seems to run on emotion, even to the extent that she is not always portrayed sympathetically.

    12. I would like to thank NetGalley, the very talented author Kerry Wilkinson, and the publisher for my ARC copy for a fair and honest review.I have to say that Kerry Wilkinson is an author that does not disappoint! I have read two of her books so far and with both have been kept guessing until the bitter end! That's is something that does not happen very often. His characters are relatable and I find that with each book I like the key players more and more. Let's start with with DI Jessica Daniel. [...]

    13. *Source* NetGalley*Genre* Mystery, Police Procedural*Rating* 3-3.5*Full Review Shortly*This is the time of year that I clean up past requests from Edelweiss & NetGalley. In this books case, I wasn't as impressed as I was with Meg Gardiner's Unsub, or Dean Koontz The Whispering Room. There wasn't all that much action involved in the story. The mystery of the killer was kept quiet until the end which was a good thing. I was wrong on my guess as to who the killer was.

    14. The second Jessica Daniel book in the series, and I whipped through it in next to no time. It was nice to have the familiarity of the characters from the first book, with some taking a larger role, and others only mentioned in passing. It was totally believable in terms of the amount of time that had gone by and the way that relationships had changed in the intervening period. In terms of the story, I really enjoyed it. A vigilante killer is on the loose, so there are mixed feelings about whether [...]

    15. Someone is tracking and killing men -- but these dead weren't exactly angels. Although the serial killer vigilante story line is not new, this second book in the DS Jessica Daniel series was interesting and more complex as, for Jessica, the need to get this killer becomes intensely personal. I am enjoying the further development of the secondary characters and find myself understanding Jessica more though she is still a bit of a hothead and is, as per usual, one who doesn't like following the or [...]

    16. Vigilante by Kerry Wilkinson is a mystery and thrillers read. A killer behind bars is still killingDead bodies are piling up for Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniel.Usually when a serial killer is on the loose, the pressure would be building to find the perpetrator but the victims are all hardened criminals themselves. The national media can’t believe their luck with an apparent vigilante on the streets, while Jessica’s new boss seems grateful someone else is doing their job for them. But things [...]

    17. D.S. Jessica Daniel has a problem on her hands. Someone is committing revenge killings made to look like the random acts of a serial killer. As the case heats up another quandary arises --- prints left on some of the victims matches a killer that is already in prison. Suspenseful and atmospheric, my first foray into the Jessica Daniel series was an enjoyable one.

    18. I first found Kerry Wilkinson via his young adult series, Silver Blackthorn. Since then I've slowly been reading his Jessica Daniel series. I read the first book last year and loaned the second from my library, but I never got around to reading it. When I saw Vigilante on NetGalley I had to try and get a request in, even though I didn't meet the requirements, and was thankfully granted my request.I have really enjoyed reading the Jessica Daniel series so far. I'm not a big reader of crime books, [...]

    19. Read all my reviews at: brainfartsandbooks.wordpressThis is the third Jessica Daniel book I’ve read. Yes, I’ve been reading them out of order! Eeeek! In the grand scheme of this, though, this really doesn’t matter. In Jessica Daniel #2, Jessica is after someone who seems to be killing the bad guys right off the streets. The only problem is that the DNA at the crime scene matches that of someone who is already in prison? So how is he doing it? Or is someone framing him for the murder? This bo [...]

    20. You know how they say that the second book isn't usually as good as the first well in this case they are most definitely WRONG. Locked In was a great read, but this one is better. The continuing characters are all developing nicely, although I was a little upset that Garry didn't feature as much in this book as in the first, but there's time for that, if future story-lines allow (hopefully!). Once again, I blindly followed Jessica down all her dead ends, and even thought up a few of my own along [...]

    21. I received a free ebook copy of Vigilante by Kerry Wilkinson from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. This is the second book in the DS Jessica Daniel series. Jessica has moved on from her friendship with Caroline after the events in the first book. She has made new friends on the force and is trying to find her footing after solving her first murder case and being promoted to DS. She gets pushed headlong into a new murder case that turns into multiple murders and smacks of vigilantism to th [...]

    22. A fairly enjoyable police procedural with a few little issues that stopped me from giving it a higher rating. That said, I did finish the book and immediately move onto the next one as this is a series I have waited ages to read. Dialogue at times between some of the characters felt a little bit silly, a number of things were too contrived to be taken seriously and the overall denouement I felt was a bit weak plus the story kind of stilted in the middle. Positives are the brilliant characterisat [...]

    24. Jessica Daniel is great! At the start there is too much repetition of the first book. But then it really starts off and never stops!

    25. Another good read. I did guess who the killer was towards the end. I will definitely be on the look out for the rest of the series.

    26. Second book in the Jessica Daniel Series. I had read the first book and loved it, so decided to carry on with the series. This time, Jessica is investigating murders of some of the ‘bad people’ of society. They have all done something wrong in life – drug dealing, assault, corruption. There appears to be a vigilante on the loose who is clearing Manchester’s streets of these criminal hard men. Jessica is struggling to get a break on the case as the DNA found on the bodies’ points to the [...]

    27. Copy provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. How to explain the unexplainable?A murder happens on the streets. And another one. DNA is found among other evidence. Matches a criminal who is behind the bars. There was no way he could escape. How could he commit the murders? Is he guilty for the crimes that put him in prison in the first place?Detective Jessica Daniel works on the case. It is the most difficult case for her ever. Someone is killing the bad guys on the streets. The p [...]

    28. (received this book from NetGalley in exhchange for an honest review)This book was WAY better than the first! It was everything I asked for, it def focused more on the murders, it was no where near predictable, kept my attention from the beginning (that's really huge because it makes you read faster to get more information!) This book was no where near slow as the first one, with that said I actually kind of understand the point of the first half of the "Locked In" ramblings now, I know exactly [...]
