    1. Who doesn't love a punny title? In "On Par with a Fairy" by Lyla Bardon Travis, a very believable 16-year-old with a success-driven father, struggles when he falls head over heels for Lark, a fairy-turned-teenager. Lark had been a fairy for what seemed like an eternity and yearned to experience love. She abandoned her fairy life after meeting her destiny, Travis. But Travis lives in a real world with a very real family and can't be distracted from the golf scholarship he's bound to win as well a [...]

    2. Originally posted at: longandshortreviews/boTravis Cho, visiting Door Peninsula, spots a fairy. A fairy? this is a new realm to him, in an otherwise really familiar summer vacation. Or, maybe golfing in the hot sun has left him delusional? But no; the fairy returns and conversation sweeps Travis, and we readers away. It’s fun to discovered the viewpoints of a fairy. Travis is intrigued. I was intrigued. He knows about not-quite fitting in, but this is an unimagined chance at a summer romance… [...]

    3. Brought to you by OBS reviewer DawnOn Par With A Fairy is a short story about Travis Cho and his family. Travis is part Korean and part Irish. He feels like he has never fit in.During his family’s summer vacation, Travis meets Lark. Only Travis can see her. There begins the romance between them. They’re cute and sweet even if naive. Lark is mischievous and bubbly while Travis will do anything to protect her despite Mr. Choforbidding them to see one another. The plot twist was pretty fun; I did [...]

    4. On Par with a Fairy is the story of a young man who meets and falls for a fairy while dealing with harsh family expectations. This is a short story under 40 pages and a quick, cute read. I liked the blend of the normal world with fairies, as well as the addition of golf. I loved the little surprises throughout the book, but I won't spoil it for other readers. The only small negative I have, and it's a personal opinion, is that I wish the legend the fairies have about being fated to be with whoev [...]

    5. I never would have thought of pairing (or parring) fairies and golf, but this delightful YA romance does just that. Travis Cho is over scheduled and micro managed by his well-meaning parents who are eager for their 16 year old son to get into a good college. When Lark, a fairy he is not entirely sure is real, inserts herself into his carefully practiced world, Travis has to weigh his infatuation with her against his parents' expectations. At the same time Lark has to learn how to fit into a worl [...]

    6. This is an engaging, bite- sized fairy fantasy that kept me turning the pages until I reached the end. A tremendous leap of faith sets the story in motion and the reader is eager to know how it will all turn out for Lark and Travis. The characters don’t experience a lot of conflict, but there isn’t room for too many twists and turns in such a short work. My favourite part of this novella was sixteen-year old Travis. The author does a wonderful job of capturing the voice of a teenage boy fall [...]

    7. This is a short, sweet YA fantasy story about what happens when Travis meets a girl who is out of this world – actually, Lark is a fairy turned teenager. Each of them will need to make adjustments as they grow and fall in love. Travis needs to deal with his overbearing, successful father who wants the best for his son and a strange girl coming out of nowhere is not it. Lark must learn how to be human in a world where magic is not the norm, but the exception or is it? Lots of twists in this ver [...]

    8. I really enjoyed this story of the young lovers. Lark was a very likeable heroine. She gave up a part of herself to be with the guy she loved, and then had trouble adjusting to the human world. I found the hero's father very annoying, as he was so against the couple being together, yet, his reasons as a parent were reasonable in the story line. The twist at the end was surprising. I didn't see it coming. A good author to follow!

    9. On Par With A Fairy is an enchanting YA fantasy romance story. Bardan captures your heart with a sweet summer romance that leaves you wanting more. CM Doporto, author of The Eslites and Element.

    10. This is a short, sweet YA fantasy story about what happens when Travis meets a girl who is out of this world – actually, Lark is a fairy who flutters into his life on tiny wings. It surprises both of them when he can “see” her. He never believed they actually existed. While she has observed humans for a long time, she knows there is a special reason why he accepts her so easily but doesn’t share it with him right away.Using her magic, Lark makes a tremendous sacrifice to become a human t [...]
