    1. This is a super cute book for kids. It takes on the concept of the ginger bread man by using an ice cube that is insistent that it wants to bump into boats like an iceberg. The storyline is simple to follow and can be read aloud as a group project or as a simple read in grade first to second.

    2. I've never been much of a fan of the "gingerbread man" story, so this essentially being a retelling of that with an ice cube doesn't earn any points from me. Also, for whatever reason, I'm willing to accept a talking, running ice cube, but the facts that the ice cube thinks it will get bigger when it reaches the ocean and doesn't melt along the way feel unrealistic and detract from the story.

    3. I was not impressed at all. I think it had good intentions, but comes across mean. My 3 yr old insisted on reading it again and again, so I would leave out "and bump into boats when they aren't looking." Sure the ice cube gets what it deserves, but don't necessarily think this is a good message for kids. In the end, it just doesn't really make any sense.

    4. It's a gingerbread man tale, only with an ice cube. The story is set in summertime, so most of the creatures are looking fir something cold. Not all the pages reminded me of summer. The ice cube looks more like a blue marshmallow. From the tiny image I saw of it, before getting the book, I thought it was an old style toaster.

    5. Not worth purchasing. An ice cube version of the traditional gingerbread story without any endearing qualities. In many pictures the ice cube is so small he is hard to really see and the refrain of "I'm off to the sea where I will grow as big as an iceberg and bump into boats when they are not looking" isn't really that catchy.

    6. Another creative twist of the Gingerbread Man. My crazy-for-Gingerbread-Man boy can get his fill while we explore variations of the standard fairytale. Who knew there were so many out there?! If you have one you loved, we'd love your recommendation.

    7. The best word to describe how I feel about this book is meh. This is a summer version of the Gingerbread Man story. I would have liked this story better if the lines repeated by the ice cube would have been more catchy.

    8. This fun "Gingerbread Boy" spin-off about an icecube that runs away to sea to "bump into boats when they are not looking" was the favorite story in our pre-school age library story time about BOATS.

    9. I thought this book could have really been a fun way to share about the water cycle, but for that purpose, it really fell short.

    10. This one is in the vein of the gingerbread man. This book was so silly that it was funny. It's getting three stars because my daughter liked it, but I probably wouldn't give it that much.
